That said, your best bet is to find obscure ones, like Josiah. Job isn't used often anymore, but is readily recognizable.



These are the most classic southern and NA names, but the south held them longer (untill about 30 years ago it was the most common.



Louisiana and southern MS have a lot of French/Creole last names, but most first names are biblical.



Girls are sometimes named after flowers. Almost any flower will do.



In reality though, we don't sit around saying, this is a good southern name. We name children after parents, grandparents, god-parents, close friends, and important places/events/people.
